I found this fun tag on Bionic Book Worm’s blog a few weeks ago and I have finally decided on my choices. 🙂
1 – THE BEST BOOKS YOU’VE READ SO FAR IN 2017
2 – YOUR FAVOURITE SEQUEL THIS YEAR

Book 4 in a brilliant series that really does need more exposure.
3 – A NEW RELEASE THAT YOU HAVEN’T READ BUT REALLY WANT TO

The Lighterman by Simon Michael.
It’s book 3 in the Charles Holborne series, a legal thriller set in 1960s.
4 – MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASE FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE YEAR

Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell, one of my favourite authors. I’ve pre-ordered this and can’t wait for it to arrive in a few weeks time!
5 – YOUR BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT

Exit West by Moshin Hamid because I loved The Reluctant Fundamentalist and this wasn’t as good.
6 – BIGGEST SURPRISE OF THE YEAR

Nutshell by Ian McEwan. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this as much as I did it’s brilliant storytelling.
7 – FAVOURITE NEW TO YOU OR DÉBUT AUTHORS
Loved these books and will definitely be looking out for anything else by these authors.
8 – YOUR NEW FICTIONAL CRUSH
Either Adam Lawley from The Wedding Diary or Ewan Fraser from The Golden Chain both books are part of the Charton Minister Series by Margaret James.
9 – NEW FAVOURITE CHARACTER
Cassie Taylor from The Penny Bangle or Fanny Gregory from The Wedding Diary
10 – A BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY

I don’t tend to cry when I read by I did shed a tear when I read this amazing book.
11 – A BOOK THAT MADE YOU HAPPY

The Wedding Diary made me laugh out loud on numerous occasions.
12 – YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK TO MOVIE ADAPTATION THAT YOU’VE SEEN THIS YEAR
I haven’t seen any unless you count Marvel films 😉
13 – FAVOURITE BOOK POST YOU’VE PUBLISHED THIS YEAR
Down the Tbr posts are my favourites, very interesting and incredibly cleansing.

14 – THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOK YOU HAVE BOUGHT/RECEIVED THIS YEAR

Assassin’s fate by Robin Hobb bought for my son’s 16th birthday. Isn’t this a gorgeous book?
15 – WHAT ARE SOME BOOKS THAT YOU NEED TO READ BY THE END OF THE YEAR
I have quite a few NetGalleys to read but I’ve really gone off ebooks and dread picking up my device to read them.
What do you think of my choices? Feel free to consider yourselves tagged if you’d like to join in, it’s great fun.
Yay so glad you did the tag! Great list!

Hallo, Hallo Nicki!
I haven’t had the JOY of leaving you comments yet – then, I spied this lovely s/o of #booklove for our mutually beloved #ChartonMinster series!! I just had to share a s/o of my own via social (Twitter) as I was so enthused seeing you mention the series on this List! Reminds me of when I included books from the series on my Top Favourites when I announce my Cuppa Book Love Awards!!
Honestly – the best joy is finding another bookish soul whose hugged so tightly into this world! I’m going to be finishing The Wedding Diary today as my weekend reads became my #MondayReads! My allergies are still intense + horrid, but a new medicine is giving me much needed relief & aide! The calm effect of it right now is a complete blessing! Meanwhile, here are my direct replies:
* New Fictional Crush – score! I *love!* the men inside Charton Minster – it’s hard to access in my own mind which bloke I cherished more, as each time I soak into a new installment of the series, I find another endearingly lovely man to rally for whilst seeing which one wins the heart of the lass! I also love the truthfulness in how Ms James shows that sometimes love isn’t the main pursuit and/or sometimes love finds the characters at moments where love isn’t even on their minds. I love well-rounded blokes in Romance and she surely has endeared us with hers!
– As I’m reading TWD right now, one thing I appreciated about Adam is how she was able to fuse his anguish and shattered heart into the breadth of the narrative; the realistic perspective of how to ‘move on’ when your heart isn’t willing and how to find light when you only see darkness is a pivotal perspective to take-on and I liked how she illuminated this in his story-line. He’s easy to crush over as he’s honestly written to show a man in transition.
* New Favourite Character – for me it was Rose from the original story which started off the saga – as she becomes the thread of connection throughout the first half of the saga. I loved the supporting cast just as much, as they each gave a new dimension of understanding to the backbone of the story-line but I do agree, with each new story we greet, there are new characters who pull at our heart!
* A book which made you Happy – I’d consider all the stories in the saga on equal footing for this declaration. Each time I get to disappear back into Charton Minster I feel my heart sings for the joy of my return as I like to see what’s changed & whose life we’re focusing on next. It’s why I love multi-generational sagas in the first place, as you get to ‘live’ alongside the characters and their descendants. What made me happy is that someone named “Rosie” (in TWD) after Rose (the matriarch).
I’ll happily tag you once my review posts lateron today for The Wedding Diary and I look forward to seeing your visits on my blog throughout the series, as I’d love to carry-on a convo with you. So lovely our paths have crossed. I look forward to scoping out your other posts / reviews after I conclude this series, too, as I’m reading Magic Sometimes Happens next week!
Bookish cheers!
#ChartonMinster stole both our hearts!!

I have something to look forward to because I own two books that you list as best reads of 2017 and I really want to read and cry if I have to with The Hate You Give. Sometimes I Lie is also still on my TBR wishlist. I’m reading more paperbacks at the moment as well, it’s a phase 🙂

Wow – the Assassin’s Fate cover is absolutely ENCHANTING – I’ve never heard of it, but now I’m totally intrigued.
The Hate U Give has been under my radar for quite some time now, as the issues it deals with, including racism and political corruption seem super relevant in today’s world, especially in US.
I look forward to reading more from you soon, Happy Reading 🙂

Thanks! My husband and teenager son are Robin Hobb fans and have read all the book in the series. If you enjoy fantasy I’m sure you’ll enjoy her books.
