Goodreads blurb ‘I wish he’d just DIE.’
“Vicki’s husband David once promised to love her in sickness and in health. But after a brutal attack left her suffering with epilepsy, he ran away with his mistress.
So when Vicki gets a call one day to say that he’s missing, her first thought is ‘good riddance’. But then the police find evidence suggesting that David is dead. And they think Vicki had something to do with it.
What really happened on the night of David’s disappearance?
And how can Vicki prove her innocence, when she’s not even sure of it herself?”
My Review
Wow what a fantastic read this was courtesy of The Pigeonhole, the online book club.
I discovered Jane Corry’s books last summer when I read an ARC of Blood Sisters, so I was absolutely delighted when I won a place to read this latest book via The Pigeonhole, with other readers. The book was split into 10 parts, called staves, emailed to me each day. I was able to leave comments throughout and interact with the others. There was an interview and comments from the author during this time, which really did add to my reading experience.
This book captured my imagination right from the beginning and didn’t let go. It’s full of so many twists and turns that I really didn’t know where it was heading. There were so many comments between all the readers on The Pigeonhole about where we thought it was heading, but we kept getting stumped, as the author took us all down a completely different track.
There are quite a few different characters in this book, some likeable, others not so much. It was great fun chatting to the other readers about how the characters might be connected to each other.
And the ending? Well that was very clever indeed I love how Jane Corry managed to tie up all those loose ends to bring a very satisfying ending.
If you haven’t read any book by Jane Corry I definitely recommend that you do, especially if you love books full of twists and turns.
