From Goodreads: “In pursuit of a Russian sleeper cell on American soil, a CIA analyst uncovers a dangerous secret that will test her loyalty to the agency—and to her family.
What do you do when everything you trust might be a lie?
Vivian Miller is a dedicated CIA counter intelligence analyst assigned to uncover the leaders of Russian sleeper cells in the United States. On track for a much-needed promotion, she’s developed a system for identifying Russian agents, seemingly normal people living in plain sight.
After accessing the computer of a potential Russian operative, Vivian stumbles on a secret dossier of deep-cover agents within America’s borders. A few clicks later, everything that matters to her—her job, her husband, even her four children—are threatened.
Vivian has vowed to defend her country against all enemies, foreign and domestic. But now she’s facing impossible choices. Torn between loyalty and betrayal, allegiance and treason, love and suspicion, who can she trust?”
My Review
Well what a page turner! This is one of those books that kept making me think how I would respond if I found myself in this situation.
I liked Vivian and really felt for her as she struggled to make a monumental decision that would effect her, her husband and their 4 children for the rest of their lives. It’s definitely a case of protect your family or protect your country.
At first I was adamant that she needed to play it straight and go to her bosses about what she’d seen. You see I’m married my husband has a good job and my 17 year old son is in his first job. We’re doing okay. However if I’d been reading this when my son was a baby I’d be having completely different thoughts about my family’s welfare. So I could totally understand why she felt compelled to do what she did.
This was such a tense read with some great twists and a surprising ending. I’d definitely recommend this if you enjoy thrillers, especially set within the CIA.
This is my fourth book for the 2019 Library Love Challenge
This sounds perfect for my husband, thanks!
