Hello and Happy Friday! It’s time to join with Meggy @ Chocolate’n’Waffles again to spread some positivity amongst all the doom and gloom on social media and in the news. Please feel free to join in with your own Happy Friday post and link to Meggy’s post so that she knows and say ‘hi’

What’s made me happy this week?
I took part in my first readalong on Instagram over the weekend. It was great fun with me finishing the book in the early hours of Sunday morning! 🙂

I met a friend at a new-to-me cafe on Sunday ,and had the most amazing breakfast of pancakes, strawberries, bananas, bacon and maple syrup!! Yummy!

I spent my second afternoon volunteering at the library for the summer reading challenge. I listened to quite a few 9 year old boys this week, telling me about their books. One boy in particular looked quite unhappy about having to talk to me, but by the end he was quite happy, as I enthused about the books he’d chosen, both nonfiction one about dolphins and one about waves in connection with surfing. It was lovely to see his demeanour change completely, reminding me why I love to volunteer. 😀

I hit 3,000 followers on Twitter and 400 on Instagram, go me!!! 😀
A publisher quoted my review on Twitter and I’m quoted on the author’s website woohoo!!! 😀

I’ve been out hunting gorillas, yes you did read that correctly. Jersey Zoo is celebrating their 60th anniversary and to celebrate they’ve commissioned 40 life sized gorilla sculptures that been painted by different artists. There are also young gorilla sculptures painted by local schools and they’ve all been dotted around the island to make up a fantastic art and sculpture trail. These are the five I’ve found so far. 😀
It all sounds lovely! And I really enjoyed Keep you close. Have a great week! X

Love this post! Those pancakes look absolutely delicious and your volunteering job sounds wonderful. And I laughed when I saw the gorillas haha. I always loved spotting the sculptures of different animals when I was back in Europe, but I’ve only seen cows and elephants so far. xD And that’s fantastic that you are quoted on the author’s website! xx

I didn’t know either, it’s the same as a buddy read but a public one.

Pancakes – ooh, yummy yummy…
Love the anecdote about the boy in the library. I’ve seen some children in our local branch get so tongue tied when asked by a volunteer about a book they had just read. There’s a skill involved in getting childen to open up and clearly you have it….

Thank you! It’s taken me a few years to get there but now I can see when they might need a bit of help to tell me about their books.

I love the hunting gorillas. When I visited Winnipeg a few years ago they had done that with Polar Bears.

I wouldn’t have put fruit on top of bacon myself, the picture looks delicious though. Congrats with all your new followers!
