Title: Corrupted
Author: Simon Michael
Published: 2018
Pages: 368
What it’s about? (synopsis via Goodreads):
“Corrupted is the fourth book in the Charles Holborne thriller series, and Simon Michael’s follow up to the bestselling The Lighterman.
Charles is building his reputation as a brilliant murder trial lawyer and living the good life with partner Sally. But he can’t escape the influences and dangers of the past, and finds himself drawn once more into the orbit of the notorious Kray twins. It’s not long before Charles is courting scandal and threats to his very life when investigating a sex ring that involves not just the Krays and the Mafia, but goes to the very echelons of the country’s power.
Simon Michael brings the past back to life across a beautifully rendered swinging 60s landscape, and delivers a gripping piece of thriller fiction that will excite any fan of the genre.”
How and when I got it: I pre-ordered this one 2 months before it was published so I’ve had it for over year on my bookshelf!
Why I want to read it: I love this series, especially the main character Charles Holborne, plus I really need to read this before the next one is out at the end of the year.
I like this idea a lot! I might do this too as I’ve a fair few (hundred) on my shelf (trolley!) that I NEED to read ASAP but fir one reason or another, I never get around to starting!

There’s a few re-reads that I’d love to get around to as well, but they get put right to the bottom of my list as I’ve already read them but the urges to re-read are strong! (Mainly my James Herbert horror collection and the Flowers in the Attic series I read when I was just 13! In hindsight, I don’t think either of those authors are suitable at such a tender age, but there you are lol!)

I’ve been thinking about listening to a book I read a couple of years ago but there’s too many other books isn’t there? I read a couple of those Flowers in the Attic books when I was a teenager as well, they were obviously the ‘in’ books! 😂

I know exactly what needs to be done in my life to get on top of things:
Cancel Netflix
Cancel Now TV
(In fact, just remove my TVs, phone, kindle, laptop, electricity supply from my home. Camp fires and lots of woolly jumpers it is then!!)
That way I’ll have nowt else to sidetrack me and I’ll get through all the books!
Oh, and I’d have to put my man in a locked cupboard somewhere because he can be so distracting as well. 🤪🤣

Thanks it’s a great series based on real court cases from 1960s and the Kray Twins are featured too!
