I love this meme created and hosted by Inge @The Belgian Reviewer highlighting the difference between covers for the same book. I’ve noticed the same thing happening with audiobooks as well. Let’s have a look at some covers.
Day of the Triffids by John Wyndham
It’s got to be the third one as it gives you an idea about the story
To Die But Once by Jacqueline Winspear
Definitely the first one as that’s the original cover
The Son-in-Law by Charity Norman
I’m not sure about this one, but I think I prefer the one on the right with the child having a shoulder ride
Casino Royale by Ian Fleming
I definitely prefer the third one with the woman on the front, it looks very groovy!
Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah
I prefer the one on the right. I think the audiobook cover is a bit boring and I don’t like the tie-in cover, even though I loved the Netflix series!
Deception at Thorncrest by Ashley Weaver
The middle one is my favourite, because it’s the original cover and I prefer the colours
Big Little Lies by Lianne Moriarty
I can’t decide, possibly the middle one with the beach
Yay it’s my turn to choose! I don’t really like any of the first series so I’ll go with your choice ;-). I agree with you on second and third cover but I choose the spirals of Casino Royale, it reminds me of a target and feels very Bond. I absolutely agree with you on the third cover of Firefly Lane, it’s very inviting! I’ll decide for you on the last one.. I don’t normally like movie tie-ins but Big Little Lies is the ONLY exception I’ll make :-). So great you did a similar post today, thank you for the mention Nicki!
Yay! I was torn with the last one as the first over is the one I have with the audiobook but as I haven’t seen the series it doesn’t mean the same to me. 😀
Oh, how fun, Nicki💜 I’ve loved Inge’s posts and am thrilled you’re joining in.
You included some tough ones. I like your choices and I chose that spiral (second one) for Casino Royale solely because I remember it from the movie (I’m with you about movie tie-ins, though). I also have a different cover for Big Little Lies that I like.
It really bugs me when they change the covers from the UK to the US/Canada. I also don’t understand why so many covers are changed when they go from book to audiobook. I absolutely do not like movie tie-in covers. I want the cover to match the story where possible.
Yay I love these posts so it’s great to see you joining in! I would pick the same for most except Casino Royale (second one) and Big Little Lies (third one).
Excellent selection. I usually always end up enjoying the US/Canada covers, especially because of how familiar I am with them. I do love your pick for Casino Royale though! It is indeed the best of them all! 😀
fab post – I like any cover that isn’t a tv/movie tie-in LOL!! x

Great post! Some tricky choices there. I’m not really a fan of the movie tie-in covers either xx
