When In Rome by Sarah Adams
read by Karissa Vacker & Andrew Eiden

51S5UgbhLOL._SL500_Synopsis: “Amelia Rose, known as Rae Rose to her adoring fans, is burned-out from years of maintaining her “princess of pop” image. Inspired by her favorite Audrey Hepburn film, Roman Holiday, she drives off in the middle of the night for a break in Rome . . . Rome, Kentucky, that is. When Noah Walker finds Amelia on his front lawn in her broken-down car, he makes it clear he doesn’t have the time or patience for celebrity problems. He’s too busy running the pie shop his grandmother left him and reminding his nosy but lovable neighbours to mind their own damn business. Despite his better judgment, he lets her stay in his guest room—but only until her car is fixed—then she’s on her own. Then Noah starts to see a different side of Rae Rose—she’s Amelia: kind-hearted and goofy, yet lonely from years in the public eye. He can’t help but get close to her. Soon she’ll have to return to her glamorous life on tour, but until then, Noah will show Amelia all the charming small-town experiences she’s been missing, and she’ll help him open his heart to more. Amelia can’t resist falling for the cosy town and her grumpy tour guide, but even Audrey had to leave Rome eventually.

This was romance was a good fun and worked really well as an audiobook. The story was told by both Amelia and Noah, narrated brilliantly by Karissa Vacker and Andrew Eiden. I really liked Amelia and Noah, they were both lovely characters, even though Noah could be very grumpy. I loved the banter between the two of them, especially with all the different nicknames Amelia came up with for Noah. There was great character development throughout the story, with some big reveals, one of which I guessed really early on, but it didn’t spoil the story for me. The romance was good, but it did annoy me at times, with all the inner dialogue about neither of them wanting a relationship because Amelia was going to leave. It got a repetitive which was a bit frustrating with an audiobook, as I didn’t want to fast forward in case I missed something important. Over all it was good fun so perfect for anyone looking for a fun romance on audio.

With her marriage to tedious Tom now officially over, Elin plans to visit the family she hasn’t seen in years. First stop: Australia! But going home is harder than Elin thought. Everywhere she turns Elin sees brightness and colour, which only makes her own life seem even more drab and beige. How has she let herself fade away?
Determined to have some fun, Elin reluctantly agrees to join The Silver Surfers – a group of seniors who travel the coast, only caring about their next big adventure. Because life’s too short to watch the ocean when you could be making waves… There’s only one catch – her road trip companion, Kit Pascoe. Kit is a man who doesn’t know the meaning of the word fun and makes it clear to Elin that this adventure will be subject to his own strict rules.
But with every new day, Elin slowly begins to rediscover who she really is. And she’s certain that rules are meant to be broken…aren’t they?”

This was a fabulous audiobook. I loved every single minute of it and laughed out loud and smiled lot! The story was told by Elin, a 58 year old divorcee who was on her way to Australia for the first in years. I loved Elin she was brilliant. A real woman with doubts and fears, but not a so timid that she didn’t speak her mind at times. I really liked all the silver surfers too, friends of her aunt and uncle who drove around Australia in their mobile homes, still living life to the full in their seventies. I loved the narration by Penelope Freeman, especially her Aussie accents, they were great fun. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a fun romance with older characters, especially on audio.
