Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
The rules are simple:
-
Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want.
-
Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to The Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post.
-
Add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s post so that everyone can check out other blogger’s lists.
-
Or if you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.

😱 Not so much love for Rose Code?!

Lots of little things annoyed me about it Carol, and took away my enjoyment of it.

Circe was so good, can’t wait for Miller’s next work (I’ve heard it’s on the Persephone myth).

If it’s the same person narrating the audiobook I’d definitely listen to the audiobook, as Perdita Weeks was amazing!

I had the same reaction to Born a Crime as well as to The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.
Here is my Top Ten Tuesday post.

Glad I’m not the only one who felt that way about Evelyn Hugo.

I agree with the placement of the books I happen to have read or listened to. 🙂

Lovely to see Bono again, Nicki – I’m still missing him from your Shrug Day posts! 😀

I could probably say the same for that TJR book. I hadn’t read any of hers before that, so had no expectations, but I loved it.

I’ve read four of these: SURRENDER, BORN A CRIME, A SLOW FIRE BURNING, and THE MAID. The first and last ones exceeded my expectations and the two in the middle weren’t as good as I was hoping they would be. Isn’t it funny how differently we all react to the same book??
Happy TTT!

I enjoyed The Rose Code but barely finished reading The Maid. I felt lied to by the synopsis!

I also feel bad because so many people love it, and I don’t. It’s nice to know that I’m not alone.

I have had Evelyn Hugo on and off my TBR so many times. I just don’t think it is for me, so I am not surprised. I have read all of Kate Quinn’s books except The Rose Code. It is on my TBR, but I’m not rushing to pick it up. I’m not surprised that all your favourites were audiobooks, most of mine were as well. Nice list, Nicki.

Thanks Carla! i think all the hype about Evelyn Hugo ruined it for me really. I think if I’d have got to it before her later books I would’ve enjoyed it more.

I loved Circe and Born A Crime as well! And The Rose Code wasn’t as good as I hoped it would be for me either… Although I did enjoy it more than you did. xx

Maybe it wouldn’t have annoyed me so much if I’d read it instead of listened to the audiobook. xx
