the-christmas-guest-10Synopsis “TIS THE SEASON TO BE WARY

When Ashley Smith – a bright-eyed but lonely American studying in London – is invited to spend Christmas with her classmate’s family at their Cotswolds manor house, it seems like a perfect country idyll.

And for Ashley – who records it all in her diary – there’s the added romantic potential of her friend’s twin brother, Adam, who she thinks could be her wildest dream come true.

But is there something strange about the old house, both stately and rundown? What could the motives of the mysterious Chapman family be? And what holiday horrors might be lying in wait?

My Review

This novella was a very chilling read!

As the above synopsis says, Ashley is invited to spend Christmas with a friend and family in the Cotswolds rather than being alone in London. Ashley can’t believe her luck especially as her friend’s twin brother is gorgeous! It doesn’t matter that the parents are very weird, she can cope with that, especially when the brother seems to like her as well.

I must admit that I was rather disappointed with the beginning of the book, as it didn’t feel like it was worthy of all the hype. It might have been something to do with having recently been in the Cotswolds, visiting family, so it didn’t feel like anything out of the ordinary.

However, it soon turned into something very dark when I began part two. It was almost like the story had been flipped on it’s head, and I was reading something completely different!

I’m not saying any more because you need to read it to find out more, otherwise I’ll definitely be giving out spoilers and it’ll be ruined, except to say the ending was unexpected!

Highly recommended if you enjoy dark murder mysteries!
