Hard Time by Jodi TaylorSynopsis: “Team Weird are back causing havoc in the Time Police in this irresistible spin-off series by international bestseller Jodi Taylor, author of The Chronicles of St Mary’s. The Time Police do not have problems. They have challenges. Idiots who want to change history have always proved ‘challenging’. But now temporal tourism is on the rise – highly illegal but highly lucrative. If you’re prepared to take the risk. To face down this threat the Time Police will despatch their toughest undercover agents. Which is fine until the unthinkable happens. Replacements are needed fast and who better than three young officers who don’t even look the part? Step forward Jane, Luke and Matthew. They may be about to graduate, but there’s still plenty of time for everything to go wrong. Throw in the Versailles time slip, a covert jump to Ancient Egypt and a race against Time itself and you’ve got yourself an assignment worthy of Team Weird.”

My Review

I really enjoyed this. It was just as good as book one, and maybe slightly better.

As the above synopsis mentions this book is the continuing adventures of Jane, Luke and Matthew, (aka Team Weird) the worst recruits in Time Police history, and about their assignments/escapades through time to become fully qualified Time Police Officers.

This time their adventures take them to Restoration England, a timeslip in Versailles just before Marie Antoinette is executed, and even further back in time to the Ice Age.

I enjoyed this just as much as the first book, and can’t wait to get stuck into the other books in the series. I love how the characters, both main and minor are developing when faced with perilous challenges. I also love how St. Mary’s are included in the stories, especially in this book. The humour is really good, causing me to laugh out loud on numerous occasions.

Zara Ramm’s narration continues to be is perfect, just as it was for the Chronicles of St.Mary’s. I’m so glad she’s the narrator for this series as well.

Highly recommended if you’re looking for a series full of adventure, fun and time travel.
