Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
The rules are simple:
-
Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want.
-
Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to The Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post.
-
Add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s post so that everyone can check out other blogger’s lists.
-
Or if you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.
This week’s topic is Books I Did Not Finish (DNFed), and here are some of my choices. I’m a massive mood reader which has a huge impact on my reading and my reasons for DNFing. Sometimes it’s a combination of reasons, and sometimes it’s just the wrong book at the wrong time! 🤷♀️
I’ve read two of your DNFs. One I really liked, the other I wasn’t so sure about. Here’s my list for this week: https://damppebbles.com/2025/03/25/toptentuesday-25th-march-2025/

I had the same experience with the Sophie Kinsella book lol! You’re so right about wrong book/wrong time! xx

My mood is definitely key, when it comes to DNF’ing. I did make it through Tom Lake, but wasn’t impressed.

I loved Meryl Streep’s narration but nothing was happening so I gave up!

I remember you DNFing and it helped me do the same!

Oooh some big names there! I enjoyed Tom Lake but haven’t read any of the others.

I really wanted to like Tom Lake, but it just didn’t work for me!

I haven’t read any of these. But I agree, more often than not that it’s the wrong time for me to read a book when I DNF it. Occassionally, I’ll recognize that when I’m reading it and give a book another try in the future. Other times, I just walk away from the book.

Interesting topic. I do DNF books, and will sometimes revisit them, while other times it’s just not a book for me

I sometimes think I’ll go back to them, but then I’m on to the next shiny new book and totally forget about them! 😂

Yeah… I’ve done that too! 😂

Good to know Carla!

I just looked at my reply and not sure how the name Sarah Inama got in there. I had been reading about her and her issues at her school and somehow must have pasted it in by mistake. Oops.

I did wonder, but no worries Carla 😂

There wasn’t enough happening for me, but you might enjoy it more, as you did like the coffee series which I also didn’t enjoy.

Too bad about Tom Lake as I loved it. But, it definitely wasn’t for everyone.

I loved Meryl Streep’s performance, but not enough was happened to keep me listening 🤷♀️

Hunted is one I probably should have DNFed myself… His writing definitely wasn’t a good fit for me.

Interesting! I only read The Midnight Feast which was ok for me but good thing I don’t have the other books on my list yet. I’m not going to look too closely what they’re about now so I won’t be tempted 🙂

You might enjoy them though, as I can be quite fussy and DNF really early on sometimes!
