Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
The rules are simple:
- Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want.
- Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to The Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post.
- Add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s post so that everyone can check out other bloggers’ lists.
- Or if you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.
This week’s topic ‘The Longest Books I’ve Ever Read’ is an interesting one as I tend to avoid big books as they intimidate me. It was fun to looks at my stats on Goodreads to see what my longest books where for the last ten years and it was very exciting to discover that I’ve read a few books over 500 pages long!! If you hover over each book cover the number of pages should appear.
704 Pages
694 Pages
608 Pages
584 Pages
538 Pages
528 Pages
488 Pages
461 Pages
I liked the couple of novels by Curtis Sittenfeld I’ve read in the past but hadn’t seen that one! Is it any good?

I was really disappointed with it and should’ve dnfed early on but wanted to find out what happened.

Oh that’s a shame. I liked her writing in Prep and American Wife. But there’s nothing worse than a really long book you’re struggling to finish.

I haven’t read anything by her as it really put me off.

I loved Seven Husbands, Labyrinth is on my shelves for many years now. Couldn’t get to it. Did you like it?

Yes but I loved Citadel the final book in the trilogy the best.

I read the Stephen King one and The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle but the longest book I’ve ever read is one of the Song of Fire and Ice series (game of thrones) which went way over a 1000 pages.

That’s just too long! Did you enjoy it?

I did. It’s a brilliant series. Although I doubt I’ll ever read the remaining two (if he ever finishes them) because the tv show has spoiled it all.

Long books sometimes intimidate me, but I do like to tackle them now and then. King books always seem long. The Kate Morton Clockmaker’s Daughter was another lengthy read for me!

I loved 11.22.63, I read it on kindle so didn’t realise it was quite as long as it is! I think the longest book I’ve ever read was probably Gone With the Wind, which I read as a teen and got completely engrossed one summer holiday. I want to re-read it but these days I get so intimidated by longer books. So many books, so little time…

Isn’t it funny how big books are so intimidating?

11/22/63 made my list this week too, and I read a hardback version of it (it was a Christmas book exchange gift from my book club) and it was so hard to hold to read. My list this week was rather Stephen King heavy though.
Hope you have a wonderful week. – Katie
