Back in April I joined in with the 2018 When Are You Reading Challenge hosted by Sam@Taking on a World of Words. It involved reading a book predominantly set in twelve different time periods.
Woohoo I’ve finished my last book and completed the challenge! Here are the 12 books that I read from the different eras with links to my reviews:
- Pre 1500 – The Year of The Snake
- 1500-1599 – The Phantom Tree by Nicola Cornick
- 1600-1699 – The Witchfinder’s Sister
- 1700-1799 – A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens
- 1800-1899 – The Flower Seller by Linda Finlay
- 1900-1919 – The Tea Planter’s Daughter by Janet Macleod Trotter
- 1920-1939 – The Hunters by Kat Gordon
- 1940-1959 – Tangerine by Christine Mangan
- 1960-1979 – Black Rabbit Hall by Eve Chase
- 1980-1999 – The Queen of Bloody Everything by Joanna Nadin
- 2000-Present – The Road to Little Dribbling by Bill Bryson
- The Future – Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel
Congratulations! Oh I love 💕 Bill Bryson books 📖

Congratulations on completing this. I’m taking part too and I think I’m near completing it, I just need to do a final check and an update post like yours. It’s a challenge I enjoy and will be participating in next year.

Thanks! I think you put me on it at the start of the year. I’m doing it again next year too and will be looking out for your post 🙂

The future is the category I’ve found most difficult to match a book to. Station Eleven was a great idea for your list but unfortunately I read that in 2016!

You’ll have to read some dystopians!

Well done. Sounds like an interesting challenge! Were you allowed to choose the book yourself or did it get set for you?

Great question but I don’t think I can answer it as I loved so many of these books. 😂

Thanks! To be honest I’d forgotten about it during the year, so it was a pleasant surprise when I realised I’d completed it. 😀
