Goodreads blurb: “When single mum Joanna hears a rumour at the school gates, she never intends to pass it on. But one casual comment leads to another and now there’s no going back . . .
Rumour has it that a notorious child killer is living under a new identity, in their sleepy little town of Flinstead-on-Sea.
Sally McGowan was just ten years old when she stabbed little Robbie Harris to death forty-eight years ago – no photos of her exist since her release as a young woman.
So who is the supposedly reformed killer who now lives among them? How dangerous can one rumour become? And how far will Joanna go to protect her loved ones from harm, when she realizes what it is she’s unleashed?
My Review
Wow this was a real page turner that hooked me! I really liked Joanna, the main character and could totally understand how she ended up in this situation. We all do it don’t we, share gossip and rumours with friends, family and people we want to get on with?
Poor Joanna doesn’t realise how far the rumour will go and rues the day she shared it. She becomes obsessed with the identity of Sally McGowan suspecting everyone woman of a certain age of being her. I did too and was particularly convinced about a couple of characters but was completely wrong. And I was disappointed that I was so wrong!
If you’re looking for a twisty, turny thriller that you can’t put down, then this is the book for you.
Thanks to NetGalley and Random House UK, Transworld for my digital copy.
You’re making me really curious, would I be wrong too? I’m seeing this book everywhere and everyone really seems to like this one too. Great review Nicki!
