At the end of 2017 I posted that I was going to join in with the 2018 Historical Reading Challenge as hosted by Passages to the Past. I decided I’d aim for 15 books this year in the hope that I’d read more than that.
I posted an update in March and I’d already read/listened to 13 out of the 15 books of my target. Now we’re at the start of a new year, it’s definitely time for a final update. I wonder how I’ve done?
A Book With A Blue Cover
A Book Set On A Different Continent
A Book With A One Word Title
A Book That is More Than 10 Years Old
Wow 45 books I’m impressed, I certainly wasn’t expecting a figure like this when I started!
Great job Nicki xx

Well done, another challenge successfully ticked off! I signed up for this as well but, to be honest, I lost track of how many I read (probably at least as many as you). I’ve decided not to take part this year as I read loads of historical fiction anyway and I always forget if I’ve posted the links and will confess I don’t find time to check out others’ links either.

Thanks! I forgot about it as well but thought I’d sign up again as I do historical fiction.

Woohoo — congrats!!! I love historical fiction and this year I’ll be posting several recommendations based on time period/location/diversity. I’m so thrilled to see other book bloggers who love this genre as well! 🤗

It amazes me when everyone presumes audiobooks do not count as ‘reading’? It is just a different format like ebooks? Whichever format you prefer, that is how you read. For me, I move between print & audio as I keep trying to offset my chronic migraines – I don’t consider those hours spent in an audiobook ‘less than’ the hours I spend in a print copy… they are equal to each other. Reading is reading.

Hallo, Hallo Nicki,
You have a lot of the books I have on my TBR listed here – the wicked part though is I like participating in this challenge myself – as it gives me a lot of joy to see where I stand when it comes to Historical Fiction. Irony though truly was not realising I was a #HistFic diehard reader *before!* I was a book blogger! I mean, I tuck into the historic past ANY chance I can and yet, sometimes its the simple things in life that throw us! Clearly your a Historical girl yourself!
I’ve not listened to Margaret James audiobooks as of yet – I’d love to go back through the series one day with the audiobooks – I’m still awaiting to gather a copy of the final release for her series “Girl in Red Velvet”. I’m hoping it is a better ‘ending for me’ than the two Contemporaries in the second trilogy which weren’t really my favourites as they took me ‘out’ of the sequence of the previous novels.
Other than that – just keep rockin’ your #HistFic, Nicki!
Here’s to a wonderful new year full of new settings & timescapes!!
