From Goodreads: “THE SERIAL KILLER ISN’T ON TRIAL.
HE’S ON THE JURY …
‘To your knowledge, is there anything that would preclude you from serving on this jury?’
Murder wasn’t the hard part. It was just the start of the game.
Joshua Kane has been preparing for this moment his whole life. He’s done it before. But this is the big one.
This is the murder trial of the century. And Kane has killed to get the best seat in the house.
But there’s someone on his tail. Someone who suspects that the killer isn’t the man on trial.
Kane knows time is running out – he just needs to get to the conviction without being discovered.”
My Review
This was my first buddy read of 2019 with Holly @Dressed To Read, chatting through messages on Goodreads.
The story was told from both Eddie Flynn’s and Joshua Kane’s point of view in mostly alternate chapters, guiding us through the court case.
I really liked Eddie Flynn, especially enjoying his time in the courtroom. I loved his comments on the how everything worked and the way the prosecution was playing the case. Kane really gave me and Holly the creeps and we both had to skip some of the gory descriptions.
The plot to this book was fast even though it kept throwing up surprises along the way and the final few chapters were brilliant. How the author did what he did in the end I have no idea, it was just like something a con man would do, but in a good way. It completely shocked both me and Holly.
I haven’t read the other Eddie Flynn books but definitely want to after getting to know him in this fantastic book!
This is my fifth book for the 2019 Library Love Challenge
Glad you liked it 😊 I went back to the other books in the series after reading Thirteen too.

Yes. It was fun seeing where Eddie started out, you know. And I love Steve’s writing style which hasn’t changed much throughout the series. Thirteen is still my fave though, because I find the whole jury thing a fascinating concept in itself, and even more so in this case because the killer is on it.

Sounds good Nicki. (except for the gory parts). You obviously don’t hesitate to jump into a series mid-stream. I wish I was more like you.

I seen lots of reviews saying that it didn’t matter jumping in and it really didn’t.
