Book Blogger Hop – Instagram Reels? #BookBloggerHop #BookTwitter #ILoveReading #SecretLibraryBookBlog
The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.
I agree with you that it takes a lot of time for very little return. I remember once someone posted a picture of bottles of water in the supermarket which got thousands of likes, while the book pictures I’d spent hours on barely got 20.
Also, I don’t understand where people get the time to read when you’re supposed to do reels and pictures and Tik Tok and whatnot.

I know used to join in with readalongs, but found I was spending more time on writing my posts than reading. I gave up in the end!

No reels or videos for me! I’d rather be reading!

Same here Carol reading is so much easier than videos! 😂

Nicki very occasionally I do one but they’re so so basic. Twitter is certainly where I feel most comfortable. I’ve absolutely no consistency with IG so it’s a very random place for me

Twitter is definitely my happy place, much easier and more fun!

Yes, I post reels. But I agree with you it takes lots of time and gives very less in return. We have to give more and more time if we want to grow.

It’s definitely more time consuming then it used to be!

That’s a hard no from me 😂 I wouldn’t even know where to start. I love looking at the reels and the photos but I haven’t even posted a photo since October 😬😂

Glad it’s not just me! 😂

I really appreciate that feedback. I recently activated my instagram account and am struggling. My passion is talking about books, not looking at pictures of them so it’s not a good fit. I’m entertained by some of the reels and they tend to be more conversational but I don’t think I’ll ever do one.

I’m old school so just use Instagram for photos – as it used to be in the good old days! xx

I’ve never posted a reel either. Probably an age thing. And I think you’re either a book blogger or a Bookstagrammer and it’s difficult to be both. I don’t think in-depth book reviews are really suited to IG and I imagine TikTok is the place for videos. Personally I very rarely watch reels on Instagram.

Yes I totally agree about it an age thing. I am must definitely a book blogger and not a Bookstagrammer!

I just like a challenge. But I asked this question on IG today and found that not many people like doing reels.

I used to see Instagram as a bit of fun, but when they started trying to compete with TikTok I lost interest. Glad you like the challenge 😀

I just post pictures of my garden on Instagram. I don’t know what a reel is or how to make one.

Sounds lovely to me and what Instagram should still be all about.

That would be a no for me. Photos I post on facebook get cross posted to instagram, but that is about it.

I didn’t know you could do that Carla. It must make it a lot easier.

I don’t know how I did it either, but it is automatic, so people who are not facebook friends can still see my pictures.

I don’t even know how to make a reel so no.. I started Instagram mainly to keep a memory of all the nice books I read and of Poes. In so many years it will still be great to be able to look back like in an album.

You’ll have some great memories then Inge!

I totally feel you, Nicki. I feel like IG is loads of work but the reward is… unrewarding. I wholly prefer my blogging experience over it, anytime!

I’m glad I’m not the only who feels like that! 😀
