My Review

I do love this series of nonfiction for children, and this is a fab compendium rewritten for older children, about 40 inspirational Americans.

This treasury covers the years 1800-1920, 1920-1940, 1941 -1959 and 1960 -2000, which makes it really interesting. I recognised most of the names, but didn’t know much about their lives, so I definitely learnt quite a few new facts about everyone in this book.

My favourite chapters were Harriet Tubman, Ella Fitzgerald, Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin, Dolly Parton, Stevie Wonder, Helen Keller, Iris Apfel, Georgia O’Keefe, Josephine Baker and so many more!

Highly recommended as an introduction to nonfiction for older children.

Thanks so much to NetGalley and Frances Lincoln Children’s Books for my digital copy via the NetGalley app.
