The Traitor Blog Tour Banner September 2023 - FINAL

Hello and welcome to my stop on the blog tour for The Traitor by Ava Glass. Thanks so much to Penguin Books for the invite and for my gorgeous paperback copy. Before I share my review here’s what the book is all about:

the-traitor-62“LONDON. EARLY MORNING.
A body is found in a padlocked suitcase.
Investigator Emma Makepeace knows it’s murder. And it’s personal. She quickly establishes that the dead man had been shadowing two oligarchs suspected of procuring illegal weapons in the UK. And it seems likely that an insider working deep within the British government is helping them. To find out who the traitor is, Emma goes deep undercover on a super yacht owned by one of the oligarchs. But the glamorous veneer of the rich hides dark secrets. Out at sea, Emma is both hunter and prey, and no one can protect her. Never has the turquoise sea and golden sands of the Rivera seemed so dangerous.
As the hunt intensifies, Emma knows that she is in mortal danger. And that she needs to find the traitor before they find her …”

My Review

I loved the first book in this series The Chase aka Alias Emma, and was thrilled to get the invite to join the blogtour for this next book.

Just like in the first book Emma was brilliant, brave, resourceful, and intelligent. She was still determined to serve her adopted country, and to wreak her revenge on what had happened to her father when she was a child.

This book took her away from the UK and onto an Oligarch’s super yacht down to the south of France. Some of the crew are welcoming, but others distinctly untrustworthy and downright frightening. Emma had to keep her wits about her the whole time she was on board, whilst pretending to be really excited about being a new member on the super yacht.

My goodness this book was tense right from the start! I kept having to put it down to catch my breath, especially towards the end when everything went up a notch!

I had my suspicions who the traitor was, but kept hoping I was completely wrong. I was shocked and gutted when the big reveal came, because I didn’t want to be right!

Highly recommended if you enjoy fast paced espionage thrillers!
