Six Degrees of Separation is a monthly meme hosted by Kate @ Books Are My Favourite and Best. The idea is to start with the book that Kate gives us and then create a chain of six books, each suggested by the one before…

This month Kate’s starter book is Intermezzo by Sally Rooney. I haven’t read any Sally Rooney books but I enjoyed the reviews for this book and briefly had a reservation for it on the BorrowBox app. I cancelled it though as I wasn’t really in the mood for it.
Another book I reserved but cancelled was Long Island by Colm Tóibín. I’d listened to a sample of Brooklyn, the previous book about the same characters, but it didn’t hook me at all. Then some of the mixed reviews on StoryGraph convinced me I wouldn’t enjoy it.
A book I definitely thought I would enjoy via the BorrowBox app was By Any Other Name by Jodi Picoult but I actually DNF’d it, partly because I didn’t like the narrators and also because I found it rather boring.
Survivors by Jane Harper is a book that I’ve tried a few times to get into, but every time I’ve tried I’ve only managed a couple of chapters. It’s infuriating as I loved her other books, particularly The Lost Man and The Dry.
Another book I was disapointed not to get into was The Maidens by Alex Michaelides especially as I like both the narrators. Maybe I should give it another try for a bit longer? 🤷♀️
The narrators for The Girl You Left Behind by Jojo Moyes, also put me off, and going by the reviews on audible I’m not the only person who struggled with them!
One book I’m determined to get back to is The Square of Sevens by Laura Shepherd-Robinson. I put it aside when I was too busy to give it my full attention, but now the nights are drawing in, it might be time to pick it up again? 🤔
Starting with Intermezzo by Sally Rooney and ending with The Square of Sevens by Laura Shepherd-Robinson via other audiobooks that I struggled with, I hope you enjoyed the trip?!
Liking the links on this one!! Hope you can get back into some of those you’ve dipped out of – so annoying when a book doesn’t grab you at the time and you wonder if it’s you or the book haha! xx

Skip Survivors and read Exiles which is the conclusion of Falk’s arc.
