She Didn't See It Coming by Shari LapenaSynopsis: “Bryden and Sam have it all: thriving careers, a smart apartment in a luxury condo, supportive friends and a cherished daughter. The perfect life for the perfect couple. Then Sam receives a call at his office. Bryden – working from home that day – has failed to collect their daughter from daycare. Arriving home with their little girl, he finds his wife’s car in the underground garage. Upstairs in their apartment her laptop is open on the table, her phone nearby, her keys in their usual place in the hall. Except Bryden is nowhere to be seen. It’s as if she just walked out. How can she have disappeared from her own home? And did she even leave the building at all? With every minute that passes – and as questions swirl around their community – Bryden and Sam’s past seems a little less perfect, their luxury condo less safe, their friends, neighbours and relatives no longer quite so reliable . . .”

My Review

What a twisty thriller this was, I’m glad I listened to it after reading Lynne’s fantastic review last month.

The story is told in short chapters from quite a few different points of view, including family members, neighbours, acquaintances and Detective Jayne Salter who leads the case.

I really liked Jayne Salter, and hope the author might write another book featuring her, as I’d love to know more about her. As for the other characters, well they were all really suspicious, and some were downright nasty!

Everyone was so untrustworthy, that I kept changing my mind with almost every chapter as to who was guilty! It really reminded me of a classic Agatha Christie novel. There were loads of twists as well which me kept off balance, so that when the big reveal came I wasn’t surprised as nearly everyone was guilty!

As to be expected, January LaVoy’s narration was flawless. Her voice talents are incredible! I’ll definitely be listening to more audiobooks that she narrates.

Recommended if you enjoy domestic thrillers on audio.
