My Review

Wow what an incredible audiobook! This is a new all time favourite audiobook and one that I’ll definitely be listening to again!

I remember all the rave reviews for this book last year. I added it to my Goodreads, but then the hype didn’t let up and it started to put me off. I forgot about it for a while and then it popped up again and I thought I’d give the audiobook a try, as it felt like that would be the best format for me.

Well what I can say, except it really does deserve al the hype! I really felt like I was listening to a documentary about this amazing band from the 70s, that’s how good the writing and narration was. The voice actors were phenomenal reading their parts, well performing really. I loved all the emotion and intonation they put into their parts, they really did sound like former musicians talking about their past lives in the band.

There’s a pivotal conversation near the end of the book, between two characters. My goodness it just was so tender, so gracious, how could it have just been fiction and not a real conversation between two real people? That’s how powerful the writing was!

And the songs how can I not mention the songs they wrote that became best sellers? I would love to hear those all songs and I really want to buy a band T-shirt. 😀

Seriously if you haven’t listened to this one yet, you’re really missing out!
