From Goodreads: “Pirriwee Public’s annual school Trivia Night has ended in a shocking riot. One parent is dead. The school principal is horrified. As police investigate what appears to have been a tragic accident, signs begin to indicate that this devastating death might have been cold-blooded murder. In this thought-provoking novel, number-one New York Times best-selling author Liane Moriarty deftly explores the reality of parenting and playground politics, ex-husbands and ex-wives, and fractured families. And in her pitch-perfect way, she shows us the truth about what really goes on behind closed suburban doors.“

My Review
This was a fantastic audiobook! I loved everything about it, characters, plot, setting and the narrator. I bought this audiobook from audible a few years ago in one of their sales and can’t believe I’ve only just got around to listening to it.
The story starts on the above mentioned Trivia Night and then goes back to some months before that fateful night, uncovering everything to leads up to the shocking moment and the dead body.
I haven’t seen the the TV series and still didn’t know really know what it was about until I started listening. I loved Madeleine one of the main characters, she was great fun and someone I’d love to be friends with, definitely not enemies though! She made me laugh out loud on numerous occasions and so did her kids and husband. They were a very normal family who had a great catch phrase, Oh calamity! 😂
I also liked Jane and Ziggy who Madeleine takes under her wing on the kindergarten orientation day, when everything kicks off. Jane’s son Ziggy is accused of bullying another child and a witch hunt goes on to get him suspended from the school. Madeleine sides with Jane and gets her friend Celeste to also side with her as the situation spirals out of control.
Whilst this is going on there are other darker situations happening behind closed doors of the perfect looking families, that no one else knows about. There are some quite upsetting scenes that shocked me and made for very uncomfortable listening.
Throughout the story there are sound bites from various parents of the kindergarten children in connection with Trivia Night, which were absolutely hilarious! They helped to bring some much needed light to the darker parts of the story.
Caroline Lee’s narration was absolutely perfect! She became every single character, man, women and child. Her range of voices was phenomenal I’d love to know how she remembered to keep in character with so many different people to portray! Definitely another narrator added to my favourites list!
I highly recommend this if you enjoy domestic dramas set around a school.
Fantastic review, I loved this book when I read it a couple of years ago. Still need to watch the TV series but heard great things about it 😊

Thanks I imagine the series is really good, although it’s a shame it’s set in the US instead of Australia!

I have the book but then I watched the show and I can’t be bothered to read the book now 🙈😂 I loved the show though! Brilliant female leads AND Alexander Skarsgard, can’t go wrong with that 😂
