Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
The rules are simple:
-
Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic โ putting your unique spin on it if you want.
-
Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to The Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post.
-
Add your name to the Linky widget on that dayโs post so that everyone can check out other blogger’s lists.
-
Or if you donโt have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.
This week’s topic is Favorite Audiobook Narrators and these are just some of my choices ๐
Who Would Be On Your List?

She’s just got one of those smooth voices you could listen to for ages. But so good at accents as well!

I knew A Christmas Carol would be on your list even before I looked! And, no list of best narrators would be complete without one performance by Julia Whelan. Wonderful list, Nicki๐

You know my attempts at audio books have been sadly unsuccessful but Jill Whelan would definitely be on my list.

No secret who my favourite narrators are Sebastian York and Zachary Webber IYKYK! I’ve found it much easier to listen to American narrators whether they be male or female as I don’t attribute any preconceived notions of class or accent as I do with British narrators. With female narrators in particular I often find them too ‘proper’ for my Northern, working class self. It gives me an image in my head of a character I can’t relate to. I’d rather read the book and create my own character.

I was going to include Zachary Webber but couldn’t find a cover with his name on. ๐ I struggle when non Brits try and do British accents, it makes me cringe if they’re bad and ends up affect my enjoyment of the book.

I agree, they often seem to think Brits either speak like 1930’s Royals or if London based a poor Dick Van Dyke a la Mary Poppins. Some are really laughable.

There were lots of great ones to choose from. The hardest part was cutting it down.

I’ve never listened to an audio book! My fellow reviewer over at Long and Short Reviews does and put together a list of her favorites this week. Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!

I read A CHRISTMAS CAROL every December. Last year, I listened to the Hugh Grant narration. I’ll have to try the one you recommend this year!
Happy TTT!
