2023 Audiobook Challenge, 2023 Reading Challenges, 2023 What's In A Name?, 2023 When Are You Reading?, Audiobook Reviews
Synopsis: “Since its immediate success in 1813, Pride and Prejudice has remained one of the most popular novels in the English language. Jane Austen called this brilliant work “her own darling child” and its vivacious heroine, Elizabeth Bennet, “as delightful a creature as ever appeared in print.” The romantic clash between the opinionated Elizabeth and her proud beau, Mr. Darcy, is a splendid performance of civilized sparring. And Jane Austen’s radiant wit sparkles as her characters dance a delicate quadrille of flirtation and intrigue, making this book the most superb comedy of manners of Regency England.“
fab review and glad the audio version helped you get through! I find with many classics I have to be in the right frame of mind otherwise it is a real struggle lol! xx

Great review, Nicki – I struggle with classics, and Austin’s work doesn’t appeal, but I’m glad you found a format that worked for you x

Thanks Jo. I really don’t understand why so many people love her books! x

I’m glad you found a way to enjoy this one. I got used to the language used because I had to read so many books from the same time period but I know it can be quite weird when compared to today. Excellent review!

I’m not the biggest Austen fan either. I feel most classics are more easily digestible on audio 😂
PS, since you probably didn’t get a notification: yes, I can confirm Sally is worth the hype 😂

I don’t think I’ve ever finished an Austen book… But I’m starting to think audiobooks are the way to go with classics; it has gotten me through Wuthering Heights in the past at least. 😉 Fab review!

Thanks I don’t understand why there is so much for it or Wuthering Heights, I Dnf’d that one on audio as well!

I smiled at “It did make me laugh on occasion, and harrumph in disgust at the whole class situation”. I didn’t like this at first as well but then I reread it later and I enjoyed it. I wouldn’t say it’s perfect 5 star. I also felt some dialogue were lengthy and dated that I have to reread them to make some sense. But i would still like to read a couple more books to say if I like the author not.

Glad to hear this one turned out to be a success, Nicki! I’ll consider myself warned when I finally give this a shot too. 😀

I wouldn’t really call it a success, just that I liked the narrator.😂

It is one of the 100 books that everyone should read and I want to read them all but I’m afraid that is going to be a long and slow process. Classics sometimes are just too slow for me.

I know and I have no idea why it’s so highly rated!
