We Solve Murders by Richard OsmanSynopsis: “Steve Wheeler is enjoying retired life. He does the odd bit of investigation work, but he prefers his familiar habits and routines: the pub quiz, his favourite bench, his cat waiting for him when he comes home. His days of adventure are over: adrenaline is daughter-in-law Amy’s business now.

Amy Wheeler thinks adrenaline is good for the soul. As a private security officer, she doesn’t stay still long enough for habits or routines. She’s currently on a remote island keeping world-famous author Rosie D’Antonio alive. Which was meant to be an easy job …

Then a dead body, a bag of money and a killer with their sights on Amy have her sending an SOS to the only person she trusts. A breakneck race around the world begins, but can Amy and Steve stay one step ahead of a deadly enemy?”

My Review

This was great fun, I loved every minute of it!

I really enjoyed getting to know Richard Osman’s new characters, Amy Wheeler a  bodyguard to the rich and famous, Steve Wheeler, Amy’s father-in-law and retired policeman, and Rosie D’Antonio the best selling crime writer.

I think Rosie was my favourite with Steve coming a close second. There were some other minor characters that were good fun as well, especially Tony, Carlos, Ferdy and Nelson. And a special mention to Steve’s cat Trouble as well!

I loved the travel aspect of the book, and enjoyed jet-setting with the the trio as they went from location to location on the hunt for clues as to the who the killer was.

The mystery was a very good as well. I had my suspicions, but was enjoying the story too much to be try and work it all out, so I had a nice surprise when the big reveal did come.

It made me laugh out loud on so many occasions, it was a joy to read, although I did feel a bit sad when I was coming to the end, so I had to ration my self. It’s definitely one of my favourites this year and one I’m going to read again.

Highly recommended if you enjoy cosy mysteries, and The Thursday Murder Club books.
